Due to a hard drive failure, California Backyard Pools and Spas encountered a catastrophic data loss. The workstation housing all financial data for the company had crashed. All customer balance and billing information was suddenly gone. Recreating that information from scratch would have been impossible.

California Backyard Pools and Spas faced many challenges on top of the data loss. Most notable was how to keep current operations running. ECO:LOGIC Engineering is a large engineering consulting firm, their data is key to their business, and they have a lot of it. They have several satellite offices as well as field offices at various construction sites. The field offices at construction sites come and go with the open and close of projects and are usually very dusty. Deploying and managing tape backup at all of these remote sites proved costly.
